WalkingWorks

WalkingWorksSM

One of the most effective long-term ways to help control the rising costs of health care is to encourage your employees to get regular exercise. WalkingWorks helps your employees set personal walking goals based on their current level of fitness and health to sustain a basic level of physical activity. And, in conjunction with the President’s Council of Physical Fitness and Sports, we’ve made it easy for you to sponsor WalkingWorks in your workplace and encourage employees to get moving.

Getting started is easy
Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas can help you launch WalkingWorks by providing messages and artwork for:

  • Your corporate intranet site
  • Posters
  • Handouts
  • WalkingWorks T-shirts
  • Newsletter drop-in articles

You can download the WalkingWorks files online.

Keep them motivated
After the initial launch, keep your employees motivated by making WalkingWorks a visible part of your workplace environment. Encourage lunchtime or before-work walking groups and offer incentives to employees who stick with the program and meet their goals.

Every step counts
We are committed to helping Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas members live healthier lives. Helping your employees make healthy lifestyle choices can have a positive impact on your workplace. By getting regular exercise, your employees will not only look and feel better, but they might also avoid chronic health conditions like heart disease, stroke, colon cancer, diabetes, obesity, arthritis and osteoporosis.
